By Olivia Cross

Having an animal that you love is sometimes very hard to find, you need to find one that loves you and that you instantly fall in love with. Once you have found this type of pet it becomes important to find out all there is about them and the diseases that they can pick up. If you have a love for horses then once of the syndromes your will want to know about is the navicular syndrome.

When you have found the right pet for you, no matter the size of this creature they become your baby, your responsibility. You will want to make sure that they are well looked after and treated in the correct way, especially if you can't keep them near you like a horse. It is then best to make sure that you know the place where your animal will be staying. You can then feel at easy about where they are.

Some of the signs that you might be able to determine this disease are heel pain, so look out for that while training with the horse as well as lameness which could be mild or intermitted but can also progress to severe lameness. All these things can be due to the horse straining its legs as well as the inflammation of the ligaments that support the navicular bone. There might also be a reduced blood flow and increased pressure within the hoof which can add damage to bursa.

Knowing the signs will help you to make changes like not working the animal on a hard surface or even the circle as this will lead to pain and cause the feet to change shape. Once you start the treatment you might find that there is not a single treatment that works, this is due to there being other factors that can affect the horse, their age, weight and strength. Things can also happen relatively fast and this will leave the horse lame quiet quickly.

Having a horse is a lot of hard work and you will constantly need to watch for all types of diseases. It then best to make sure your animal is seen by a professional on a regular basis, in which the vet can diagnose any problems quickly and make sure that the right treatment is followed. In this way you can help save your animal and give it a long and healthy life, while still enjoying time with them.

Getting to understand this syndrome will allow you to assist your animal before the problem becomes overwhelming and unbearable for both you and them. So letting your horse rest as much as possible and giving them the correct medicine will allow them to cope as well as making sure that trimming is done regularly and the shoes are replaced often and correctly. All these things can assist in making them feel better for longer.

Taking care of something or someone is a great responsibility but once they become yours to look after you will find the best rewards in that. Making you and them happy, and if they are pain free it will also only make them feel better and ready for anything. Look out for any early signs, so that you can treat it quickly and enjoy a long life with your chosen animal.

Enjoy what you have and what you do, this way you can make great changes in the animal's life as well as your own. It is always nice to know that when you feel alone you can spend some quiet time by the stables and find peace again. This will help you to carry on when you feel stress and the animals will love the attention as well.
