By Carol Edwards

A large majority of people fear teeth cleanings. The source of fear for such people is easy to understand considering the strange noises, occasional jaw discomfort, and prodding that happenings during this exercise. However, to others teeth cleaning is a painless simple exercise. One way of getting comfortable is to know exactly what will be happening in the course of kor teeth whitening.

Research has shown understanding what takes place during the exercise reduces stress and anxiety and therefore making it possible for the person to enjoy or endure the process. In fact, cleaning plays an important part in oral hygiene. The process involves removing tartar which is also known as plaque, thus plays a role in preventing oral conditions such as gingivitis, cavities, and periodontal disease.

Oral hygiene is something that must start at a personal level. As such, everyone must commit to cleaning routinely. There are several ways of doing this such as interdental cleaning brushing, flossing, and scrubbing. Such routines are meant to supplement cleaning procedures. For individuals with denture and natural teeth, they may use denture cleaner to improve the results of cleanings after a dental hygienist is done.

A physical checkup of the entire mouth is done by a dental hygienist before performing the procedure. The professionals check regions around the teeth and gums using tiny mirrors for any possible concerns for example inflamed gums. In the event a problem is detected, dental hygienists address the problem or turns one over to a dentist depending on how the serious the condition is.

While on the job they still use small mirrors to guide their vision around teeth and gums. Dental hygienists then remove tartar or plaque using a scaler. The scarping of tartar or plaque produces the noise which is heard as the dental hygienist works. Such noises are normal phenomena. Spots with more tartar are scarped more.

After the teeth has been freed of tartar, the hygienist then proceeds to giving the patient a high-powered electric brush. The brush produces a grinding noise which may scare some people not to mention the fear created in some by the mere mention of a high-powered electric brush. This sounds scary but a person must trust that the hygienist knows what they are doing. Normally, the result is a deep clean in which tartar left behind by the scaler is removed.

Professional hygienists use toothpastes with regular taste and smell with the exception of a gritty consistency. The gritty consistency is for the purposes of ensuring a gentle scrub. At this stage the patient is given an opportunity to choose the flavor of toothpaste that the hygienist should use. It is also important to point out that during normal regular brushing it must not be done harshly.

To finalize, the specialist finishes with a thorough flossing. They get deeper into the mouth exposing all spots with the potential of causing trouble like bleeding of the gums or teeth. A person must not disregard this step even if they do as often as required in their homes. Doing this removes all remaining tartar and toothpaste from initial cleaning process. The last part involves rinsing using liquefied fluoride.
