Doctors record notes and procedures in voice form, and they are transformed into text format for easy understanding by patients in a process called medical transcription. These notes and guidelines are arranged and revised by electronic means to give historical medical data of a person. It is carried out by employees of a specific medical facility or doctor. Each doctor gives a specific report depending on the field and the specific person. The following abilities are important in making medical transcription reports.

To begin with, one is expected to have adequate knowledge of technical and less technical remedial words. The department of medicine has a lot of complicated words that the layman may not understand; thus, the transcriptionists should be conversant with these words. With this, the medical data will be properly recorded and detailed, and the patients will be given the required treatment.

It is important to possess adequate knowledge on structure and composition of the human body. One should know how each part of the body works. It is also necessary to know the technical names given to these parts as the doctor will always use these terminologies in their reports. It will also be crucial in understanding the past records of a patient.

Also, there is the need for proper communication and spelling skills. It is necessary because lately, health providers use speech recognition software; thus the translator ought to be audible and fluent enough as wrong speech can lead to a bad report. Translators should have perfect spelling skills to write the correct things as missing even one letter can mess up the whole report. They should also have great memory skills to memorize what they hear from the recorded information of doctors.

Also, the ability to use basic office machines like computers is needed. Electronic devices are used to record transcription records; thus, one needs to have the skill to use these devices. It is expected to know about translating voice information into written form as this is what people opt for. One should be able to use a transcriptionist and how to give directions using a foot pedal.

Another essential expertise is being able to arrange things properly. Records should be arranged in a specific order to avoid mistaking them and giving wrong information. One may give alphabetic letters or numeric order to documents to make the recovery process easier and faster.

Multitasking is essential for remedial transcription. One is expected to be able to handle many assignments simultaneously including even those that do not involve process. They should be able to capture every detail in the voice notes and be able to write them at the same time without making mistakes. This ability enables the transcriptionists to give records that are adequate, ensure timely handing in of work, and also make sure that the set goals are achieved stress-free.

It is crucial to have the ability to be very alert and intent to work given. One is required to be able to do work over a long period in a focused way. This will guide the production of quality work and meet the expected time-frame of work given.
